Wild Lectionary This Year
You may have already noticed that we haven’t had Wild Lectionary content so far this year — we’re sad about it too! But never fear, there are things happening behind the scenes.
One exciting thing is that we’re working on making the Wild Lectionary archive easier to browse! Currently, you just have to page through things and there’s no good way to look for specific scripture references unless you happen to know the lectionary schedule extremely well. So, we want to make that easier. Our writers have created so much good content over the past several years (and before that, in the initial version of this project). We want to make that stuff more findable, more accessible, so that is one of our Wild Lectionary priorities this year.
Another piece is that we were waiting for our AGM to finalize the 2026 budget for our organization and for this project. Our AGM has now happened, and we have a budget! We deeply value being able to offer our writers a sliding scale stipend for their work. It allows us to have a broader range of voices and approaches to the lectionary texts. The first year of our project was funded by a one-time grant that allowed us to devote a lot of staff time to it. Since then, the funding has been less consistent and just… less. So, we’re figuring it out! Our budget this year won’t allow us to necessarily have brand new content every week, but we will try to hit some highlights, as well as offering some additional content when we can.
Don’t worry, this project isn’t going anywhere, we’re still in it. If you or your congregation would like to sponsor a week of Wild Lectionary for the future, please reach out (e-mail address in the footer)! We’d be excited to hear from you.
